This exciting culinary and cultural event showcases soy and tofu vendors, provides an educational forum on the various uses and benefits of soy and tofu, offers live entertainment, and interactive games. The event offers a unique opportunity for your company to outreach to larger, more diverse communities as well as to support a vibrant press for the Japanese and Asian American community.
Proceeds from sponsorships help the Nichi Bei Foundation continue to keep the community connected, informed and empowered through the publication of the Nichi Bei News — the first nonprofit ethnic community newspaper of its kind in the country. The Nichi Bei News also publishes the only annual guide to Japanese culture and spring festivals, a San Francisco Japantown Map and Directory and a Japanese American Community Resource Guide. The Nichi Bei Foundation also presents meaningful educational programs such as the Films of Remembrance, and the organization led more than 2,000 on five Nikkei Angel Island Pilgrimages since 2014, as well as two four-bus pilgrimages to the Wakamatsu Tea and Silk Farm Colony — the site of the first settlement of Japanese in America — in 2017 and 2019.
This year, partial proceeds will also benefit the Japantown Youth Leaders and the Nikkei Community Internship program, administered in Northern California by the Japanese Community Youth Council. The Nikkei Community Internship program, which places college-aged students at community-based nonprofits in San Francisco, San Jose and Los Angeles Japantowns, is designed to help shape community leaders of the future.
